Very expected game when 14th ranked Reggio Emilia (10-19) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Sassari (17-12) 89-77 on Sunday. Sassari made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American point guard Chris Dowe (189-1991, college: Bellarmine, agency: GoEmpire Group) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Jamal Jones (203-1993, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Andrea Cinciarini (191-1986) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 assists and Latvian Arturs Strautins (201-1998) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sassari maintains fourth place with 17-12 record, which they share with Varese. Reggio Emilia lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Sassari will meet league's leader Milano on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Reggio Emilia will play against Trento (#7) and hope to secure a win.
