There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Hapoel Eilat (9-17) defeated at home 7th ranked Bnei Hasharon (13-13) 99-86 on Monday. South Sudanese-Australian center Mangok Mathiang (208-1992, college: Louisville, agency: ProMondo Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Amit Gershon (191-1995, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Hapoel Eilat's coach Maurizio Buscaglia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Maurice Kemp (203-1991, college: ECU) produced 28 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Polish point guard Oded Brandwein (179-1988) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to ninth place, which they share with E.Kiryat Ata. Loser Bnei Hasharon keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Hapoel Eilat will meet higher ranked Hapoel Beer Sheva (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bnei Hasharon will play against E.Kiryat Ata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
