There was a surprise result when Westerstede crushed at home Wolfenbuettel 103-79 on Saturday. Westerstede forced 20 Wolfenbuettel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Wolfenbuettel's players. American guard Carrington Wiggins (188, college: MSUB) notched 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and Ukrainian guard Rauf Amirbekov (191-2004) supported him with 11 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by center Jannik Goettsche (208-2000, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Wolfenbuettel. American Emilio Arellano (196-1992, college: Southwestern, CA) added 13 points for the guests. Four Westerstede and five Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Westerstede will meet Stade on the road in the next round. Wolfenbuettel will have a break next round.
