Regular Season Round 4: Den Bosch - ZZ Leiden 78-54
Date: October 7, 2023
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Den Bosch (2-1) rolled over at home one of their biggest challengers ZZ Leiden (2-1) 78-54 on Saturday. The winners were led by American guard Austin Price (193-1995, college: Lehigh) who scored that evening 23 points and center Thomas van der Mars (208-1990, college: Portland) supported him with 5 points and 15 rebounds. Even 19 points by Stan Van Den Elzen (195-2000) did not help to save the game for ZZ Leiden. Power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-1988, college: Oregon St.) added 5 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Den Bosch moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated ZZ Leiden. Den Bosch will meet higher ranked Zwolle (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. ZZ Leiden will have a break next round.
