Regular Season Round 3: Haukar - Njardvik 49-72

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Haukar (2-1) in Hafnarfjordur on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Njardvik (2-1) 72-49. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. Haukar managed to win third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Haukar 55-36 including a 43-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. Njardvik looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Danish power forward Emilie Hesseldal (185-1990, college: Colorado St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 20 rebounds and 9 assists. Danish guard Ena Viso (177-1993, college: S.Dakota St.) helped adding 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Njardvik players scored in double figures. Njardvik's coach Runar Erlingsson felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Keira Robinson (170-1994, college: VCU) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and international forward Thora Jonsdottir (173-1997) scored 8 points. Njardvik is looking forward to face Grindavik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haukar will play against Breidablik in Kopavogur and is hoping to win this game.
