Regular Season Round 4: Nokia - Vilpas 84-90

The game had a very big importance for tenth-ranked Vilpas as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Kataja) loss. Vilpas defeated much higher ranked Nokia on the road 90-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nokia. Nokia was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 27-19 charge of Vilpas, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Nokia turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tyree Eady (196-1999, college: N.Texas) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Teemu Suokas (188-2001, college: Ball St., agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Both Gach (201-1999, college: Utah) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and his fellow American import guard Tucker Richardson (196, college: Colgate) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Nokia. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Nokia at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Nokia will play next round against strong Kataja trying to get back on the winning streak. Vilpas will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Korihait at Uusikaupunki.
