Regular Season Round 5: Leuven - Charleroi 82-58

There was a change at the BNXT League leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Belgian Spirou Charleroi (3-1). They were crushed by ninth ranked Leuven Bears (2-3) 82-58 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Spirou Charleroi. Leuven Bears forced 19 Spirou Charleroi turnovers. American guard Tyreke Key (188-1998, college: Tennessee) stepped up and scored 32 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import forward John Fulkerson (206-1997, college: Tennessee) chipped in 20 points. Dutch center Nathan Kuta (203-2000) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Austin Butler (196, college: Charlotte) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Spirou Charleroi's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leuven Bears moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mechelen and Liege. Spirou Charleroi at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Brussels. Spirou Charleroi will play next round against strong Limburg United trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Leuven Bears will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
