Regular Season Round 7: Roanne - Strasbourg 88-90

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Strasbourg (2-5) edged on the road higher ranked Roanne (4-3) 90-88 on Saturday. Strasbourg dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Roanne's 32. It was a great evening for guard Bastien Rieber (187-2005) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Joan Beringer (206-2006) helped adding 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Strasbourg players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Mathis Courbon (189-2005) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and forward Theo Pierre-Justin (204-2005) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Roanne's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Strasbourg moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Roanne dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Gravelines. Strasbourg will meet at home higher ranked Monaco (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Roanne will play against the league's leader ASVEL having rather not much hope for a victory.
