There was a minor upset when higher ranked Olomoucko (3-5) was edged by eleventh ranked Slavia (3-5) in Prostejov 102-100 on Saturday. Slavia made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Slavia had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Cape Verdean-American guard Williams Tavares (198-1995, college: Fordham) who scored that evening 32 points and 6 assists and American power forward Duke Shelton (208-1995, college: Tampa) supported him with 18 points and 18 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Dupree McBrayer (195-1996, college: Minnesota) did not help to save the game for Olomoucko. His fellow American import guard Marcus Shaver Jr (188-1998, college: Boise St.) added 27 points and 4 steals for the hosts. Five Slavia and four Olomoucko players scored in double figures. Olomoucko's coach Andy Hipsher tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Slavia moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Olomoucko. Slavia will meet at home higher ranked Pardubice (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Olomoucko will play against USK Praha (#5) and hope to secure a win.
