Regular Season Round 5: Herford - Leverkusen 69-93

Everything went according to plan when leader Leverkusen (5-0) outplayed on the road 9th ranked Herford (2-3) 93-69 on Saturday. Leverkusen made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American point guard Trey McBride (188-1997, college: Northwood) nailed 15 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Latrell Grosskopf (200-2001) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Luca Michels (183-2002) came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American Shawn Gulley (200-1993, college: Temple JC) added 15 points respectively for Herford in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leverkusen have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Rhoendorf.
