There was a surprise result in Vilnius where fourteenth ranked Rytas 2 (1-6) beat higher ranked Silute (3-4) 85-78 on Thursday. They outrebounded Silute 46-32 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rytas 2 made 20 blocks. It was a great evening for Gediminas Alisas (196-2004) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Danielius Kasparas (198-2004) helped adding 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Rytas 2 players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Laurynas Balkunas (192-1999) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and American guard Bryson Etienne (190-1999, college: Southern, agency: VM Hoops Agency) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Rytas 2 left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Neptunas-Akv. Loser Silute keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Zalgiris II and Stekas. Rytas 2 will meet higher ranked Vilkaviskis (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Silute will play against Palanga having rather not much hope for a victory.
