Regular Season Round 5: Hagen - Artland 91-69

Bottom-ranked Artland Dragons (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Phoenix Hagen (4-1) 91-69 on Friday evening. Phoenix Hagen dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Artland Dragons' 38. Phoenix Hagen forced 20 Artland Dragons turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Devonte McCall (198-1998, college: Post) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (190-1999) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Phoenix Hagen's coach Chris Harris felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kilian Binapfl (198-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Jake Forrester (206-1999, college: St.Louis, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to second place, which they share with Trier and Kirchheim. Artland Dragons lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Bochum. Phoenix Hagen will meet Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Artland Dragons will play against SparkassenStars (#18) in Bochum and hope to get finally their first victory.
