Regular Season Round 8: Jurbarkas - Telsiai 80-82

The most exciting game of round 8 in the NKL took place in Jurbarkas. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Jurbarkas (6-2) to top-ranked Telsiai (7-0) 82-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Jurbarkas. Telsiai forced 20 Jurbarkas turnovers. Strangely Jurbarkas outrebounded Telsiai 35-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Telsiai made 21 blocks. Forward Rolandas Jakstas (202-1992) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Ignas Razutis (185-1987) contributed with 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Telsiai players scored in double figures. Telsiai's coach Povilas Sakinis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Aidas Kavaliauskas (186-1995, college: Fairfield) replied with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-1982, agency: Octagon Europe) added 19 points in the effort for Jurbarkas. Telsiai have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Newly promoted Jurbarkas keeps the third place with two games lost. Telsiai are looking forward to face Kretinga (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Jurbarkas will play against Silute (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
