There was a minor upset when 6th rankedEmpoli (3-3) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked San Salvatore (3-3) 71-58 on Tuesday. Strangely Empoli outrebounded San Salvatore 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Silvia Ceccarelli (182-1996) who scored 27 points. Guard Francesca Mura (175-2000) chipped in 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian center Marta Miscenko (194-1995, college: Wingate) who recorded 9 points and 15 rebounds and center Laura Manetti (180-1999) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Salvatore have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Empoli.
