Regular Season Round 8: Eleftheroupoli - Milonas 82-74

The biggest surprise took place in Kavalas where hostEleftheroupoli (4-4) beat league's leader Milonas (5-3) 82-74 on Saturday evening. Eleftheroupoli made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Ryan Allen (186-1998, college: Delaware) who scored 22 points. The other American import guard Tyre Gathright (193-1996, college: St.Augustine) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Gathright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Eleftheroupoli players scored in double figures. American-Ukrainian point guard Steve Burtt (189-1984, college: Iona) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds and center Petros Melissaratos (205-1993) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eleftheroupoli moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Papagou and Esperos L. Milonas at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mykonou. Milonas will play next round against Psychikou trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens - Psychikou. Eleftheroupoli will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Charilaos in Mesolongi.
