Regular Season Round 9: Angers - Nantes 80-85

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth rankedNantes and 14th ranked Etoile Angers had identical 3-5 record. But Etoile Angers was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Nantes 85-80 on Friday night. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese-American guard Christian Lutete (196-1996, college: UMass Lowell) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Devon Thomas (183-1994, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Brandon Averette (179-1997, college: BYU) who recorded 18 points and center Darel Poirier (207-1997) added 15 points respectively. Four Nantes and five Angers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Nantes (4-5) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Evreux. Loser Etoile Angers dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Nantes will meet at home Chalons-Reims (#12) in the next round. Angers will play against Rouen and hope to secure a win.
