Regular Season Round 9: Skenderbeu - Flamurtari 53-97

No shocking result in a game in Korce where eighth ranked Flamurtari (4-4) smashed bottom-ranked Skenderbeu (0-7) 97-53 on Saturday. Flamurtari dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Skenderbeu's 34. Flamurtari forced 22 Skenderbeu turnovers. American forward DyQuavis Wilkins (196, college: WSSU) stepped up and scored 31 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Maki Mohr (188-1999, college: St.Xavier) chipped in 24 points and 10 rebounds. Four Flamurtari players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Mario Bala (-1997) with 16 points and guard Endri Habipi (-1988) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Skenderbeu's coach Ilir Duci gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Flamurtari. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Apolonia. Skenderbeu lost their seventh game in a row. Skenderbeu at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Partizani. Flamurtari will meet at home higher ranked Tirana (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Skenderbeu will play against the league's leader Beselidhja (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
