Regular Season Round 8: Margveti - TSU 84-100

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi:TSU (#2) and Margveti (#8). Margveti was smashed at home by 16 points 84-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Margveti took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then TSU had a 24-20 second period charge getting the lead and Margveti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-100. TSU made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. TSU players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Margveti was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international swingman Kakhaber Jintcharadze (196-1993, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998) supported him with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four TSU players scored in double figures. Even 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists by American point guard Michael Mays (178, college: King) did not help to save the game for Margveti . His fellow American import center Tyshaun Crawford (216-1999, college: Augusta) added 22 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Delta. Margveti lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Orbi.
