There was a surprise result when ninth rankedFocsani (2-14) won against on the road 4th placed Sibiu (9-7) 78-71 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Focsani made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. American guard Derryck Thornton (190-1997, college: Boston Coll.) nailed 22 points and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Sherwood Brown (193-1991, college: FGCU) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Focsani players scored in double figures. American forward Monyea Pratt (196-1985, college: Stillman) came up with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international point guard Mirel Dragoste (184-1995) added 19 points respectively for Sibiu in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Focsani moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Galati. Sibiu at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Dinamo.
