Regular Season Round 20: Rimini - Nardo 83-65
Date: January 21, 2024
There was a minor upset when 7th rankedNardo (8-12) lost on the road to tenth ranked Rimini (7-13) 83-65 on Sunday. The winners were led by point guard Alessandro Grande (185-1994) who scored that evening 24 points and American Justin Johnson (200-1996, college: WKU) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Rimini players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by the former international power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (208-1991) did not help to save the game for Nardo . American point guard Russ Smith (183-1991, college: Louisville) added 15 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rimini moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Luiss Roma and Cividale. Nardo lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Vigevano and Cento. Rimini will meet higher ranked Trieste (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nardo will play against Verona (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
