Everything went according to plan when third rankedGiessen (12-4) defeated on the road 13th ranked Frankfurt Makk. (4-13) 87-81 on Saturday. Giessen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Frankfurt Makk. 's 32. Giessen looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Josiah De La Cerda (203, college: OUAZ) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Naturalized American Elijah Allen (194-1989, college: NW Missouri St.) accounted for 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Elias Gross (192-2001) came up with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Julian Bozic added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Frankfurt Makk. in the defeat. Five Frankfurt Makk. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Giessen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-4 record having five points less than leader Veitshoechheim. Frankfurt Makk. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost.
