Regular Season Round 23: Mannheim - Langen 79-76

The most exciting game of round 23 in the Regionalliga took place in Mannheim. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-rankedLangen (15-5) to ninth ranked Mannheim (10-11) 79-76 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Langen. They outrebounded Langen 45-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Eric Curth who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Russian Albert Kuppe (200-1988) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Bastian Winterhalter (198-1990) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Niklas Pons (192-1999) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Langen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mannheim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hagen-Haspe and Saarlouis. Langen at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Giessen.
