The most surprising game was another loss of top-rankedTSU (9-4) in Tbilisi on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Kutaisi (8-5) 98-92 . TSU trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 24-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 92-98 at the end of the game. Kutaisi dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to TSU 's 34. Kutaisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by TSU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Marqus Gilson (201, college: CWU) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Giorgi Ochkhikidze (190-2004, agency: BIG) chipped in 11 points and 13 assists during the contest. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Kakhaber Jintcharadze (196-1993, agency: BIG) responded with 32 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Kutaisi moved-up to third place, which they share with GAU. Defending champion TSU dropped to the second position with four games lost. Kutaisi is looking forward to face league's leader Delta in Gurjaani in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TSU's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena RASHI.
