Regular Season Round 9: VSA - Astrali 97-68

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi:VSA (#1) and Astrali (#4). VSA (7-0) crushed visiting Astrali (3-6) by 29 points 97-68 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astrali. The game without a history. VSA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-21 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. VSA players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Astrali 's players. American point guard Jermaine Head (186-1997, college: WILMU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and Serbian power forward Sasa Vuksanovic (206-1997, college: Hawaii-Hilo) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five VSA players scored in double figures. VSA's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Chris Whitaker (190-1999, college: Rogers St.) with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Solomon Clayton (201, college: Bethany, KS) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. VSA have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Astrali at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Vera.
