Regular Season Round 17: GAU - TSU 84-85

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Superleague took place in Tbilisi. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed GAU (9-6) to first ranked TSU (12-4) 85-84 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of GAU. GAU trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 22-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-85 at the end of the game. TSU looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by GAU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international swingman Kakhaber Jintcharadze (196-1993, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998, agency: BIG) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. American Isiah Small (202-1998, college: Texas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Tavis Smith (191-1999, college: Belm.Abbey) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four GAU players scored in double figures. TSU have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-4 record, which they share with Delta. GAU at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Margveti.
