Date: April 7, 2024
The game between second ranked Skyliners (22-9) and sixth ranked Science City Jena (21-10) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Skyliners were defeated by Science City Jena in Frankfurt 65-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Skyliners. Jena made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by Frankfurt helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Blake Francis (183-1998, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Joshiko Saibou (187-1990) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. American guard Cameron Henry (198-1999, college: Indiana St.) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Lorenz Brenneke (204-2000) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Frankfurt. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jena moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kirchheim. Frankfurt at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Hagen. Jena is looking forward to face Artland (#15) in Quakenbrueck in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Frankfurt will play at home against Dresden (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
