Second Stage Round 8: Craiova 2 - CSU ASE 88-61

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengersCSU ASE (4-4) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Craiova 2 (7-7) 88-61 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova 2. CSU ASE managed to win fourth quarter 23-22 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Craiova 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to CSU ASE 's 34. Craiova 2 forced 30 CSU ASE turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Luca Manda (-2003) who scored that evening 26 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Andrei Draghici (-1999) supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Craiova 2 players scored in double figures. Craiova 2's coach Catalin Garleanu felt very confident that he used 11 players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by Toni Pavel (-2002) did not help to save the game for CSU ASE . Robert Spoitoru (-2005) added 23 points for the guests. Craiova 2 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cluj CSU and Constanta 2. Newly promoted CSU ASE keeps the third position with four games lost.
