Regular Season Round 3: Amra Gagra - VSA 59-88

Date: October 27, 2024
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: VSA (#3) and Amra Gagra (#6). Amra Gagra was crushed at home by 29 points 59-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by VSA. Amra Gagra was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VSA dominated on the defensive end, holding Amra Gagra to just 7 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Amra Gagra's 26 and made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Amra Gagra 51-32 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. VSA players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a great evening for American point guard Jermaine Head (186-1997, college: WILMU) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international guard Luka Zakradze (193-1996) helped adding 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four VSA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-2000, college: UMass Lowell) with 18 points and center Roman Tchintcharauli (209-2002) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. VSA will play against Iverioni (#3) in Gori in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Amra Gagra will play on the road against Batumi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
