Grodno-93 Win the Championship
After beating RTI-RUOR in the third game of the final series Grodno-93 claimed 6th championship title in a raw. The team has an excellent season, retaining the European spot for Belarus for next year and remaining unbeaten in all the 45 national league games. Even with the Safronov and Kandrusevich missing Grodno-93 proved too strong for RTI in their encounter of the season. Although, the game was close in the first half, the third and the fourth quarters saw great display of shooting skills from Korhsuk and Pynstikau, who helped the visitors increase their advantage to a safe 15-point lead.
Barisau: “Of course I’m happy. We have won all the games in the championship. RTI were a tough opponent in the finals, but even in spite of Safronov’s and Kandrusevich’s absence, we managed to stay unbeaten. One of the reasons for our success is regular participation in European cups, which gives our team the invaluable experience, that other Belarusian clubs lack. In these circumstances neither the club, not the national team can really improve. We do have talented young players, but the economical situation in the country does not let them stay.”
