Bent Schoenen Waregem vs. Gembo BBC: 72-81 BS Waregem's guard Lars De Lepeleire (175-PG-91), injured, missed Game Two and Alex Tuluka-Mfumupembe (193-G/F-89, agency: PEPI SPORT, college: Missouri Western) took over his role in this match-up which was held in front of a nice crowd at De Treffer in Waregem on Sunday afternoon. Mikhail Linskens (213-C-87, agency: LBM Management, college: Wyoming) had a good start and boosted the home squad which was only one point behind at the end of the first quarter. The game did not reach a high-quality level but always remained pleasant to watch. Gembo, with an excellent Thomas Goethaert (183-G-83) in the first half, was ahead at the end of the second quarter (40-44). Once back from the locker rooms, the game changed tremendously. The Greens of Coach Stefan Sappenberghs kept choosing wrong options and BS Waregem did not miss the chance to take a large advantage. Thanks to an impressive 14-2 run early in the third quarter, the home team of Coach Sven De Clercq was back in the race. BS Waregem kept playing well and made 56-50 via Mikhail Linskens on a strong offensive rebound. It was even 61-55 after a great play Inside by Tim Haeck (179-PG-95) following a nice assist by Mikhail Linskens and a three-pointer from downtwon by Tim Bruyneel (200-C/F-95) to end the third period. Alex Tuluka, already well present in the first half, boosted his team again in the beginning of the last quarter but Gembo player Nicolas Wachowiak (200-F/G-91) started to score (he had 30 points in Game One last Friday). The French forward nevertheless forced shots and BS Waregem remained on top. Brecht Guillemyn (192-F-87), BS Waregem's best scorer of the day, made 70-63. It did not look that easy for BS Waregem afterwards and Gembo BBC played much quicker in transition. The hosts took wrong decisions and the scoreboard suddenly showed 70-67, when Coach Sven De Clercq took a time-out. Gembo's point guard Anthony Goetgeluck (182-PG-92) then made 70-71 with only 2'15'' remaining on the clock. It was a thrilling end of game but Gembo was able to make a break via Anthony Goetgeluck again: 72-77 with only 40'' left. The BS Waregem players were unable to seize their chances in the last seconds of the game and the bottles of champaign could be open by the Gembo players, staff and fans. Final score: 72-81. Gembo BBC claims the 2015 Belgian Division II title! Gembo BBC already won the title in 2012 and 2013 and was defeated by Bent Schoenen Waregem in the Play-Off Finals last season.
