Simon Cermak claims Czech Republic 1Liga weekly honour

Talented Simon Cermak (192-G/F-2006) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader BC Novy Jicin and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents 1Liga Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 20-year old swingman had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Brno 2 (#7, 0-2) with 28-point margin 97-69. It allowed Novy Jicin to jump to the first place in the Czech Republic 1Liga. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Novy Jicin won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Cermak had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Pavel Slezak (186-G-1984) of Dekstone Turi Svitavy. Slezak impressed basketball fans with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course he led Svitavy to another comfortable win outscoring MS Academy (0-2) 101-79. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Slezak is one of the most experienced players at Svitavy and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#8). He also recorded 3.5 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was Frantisek Suchanek (201-F/C-2006) of Srsni Photomate Pisek (#4). Suchanek scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Suchanek's great performance the Srsni Pisek lost 73-77 to #2 ranked Sokol Prazsky. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Srsni Pisek needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in the West. Their record is 1 victory and 1 lost game. The season just started for Suchanek as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
