Raivo Kudrjavcevs claims EYBL U16 weekly honour

Talented Raivo Kudrjavcevs (2008) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Ekselences Centrs Riga U17 team and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 33.
The 15-year old had the game-high 29 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for DSN in his team's victory, helping them to beat BVBS (#10, 12-7) 65-58. Ekselences is placed at 8th position in EYBL U16. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ekselences will need more victories to improve their 13-6 record. In the team's last game Kudrjavcevs had a remarkable 52.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Ekselences's top player in his first season with the team. Kudrjavcevs has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.6ppg. Kudrjavcevs is in league's top in assists (4th best: 4.2apg) and averages solid 2.4spg and 51.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Ignas Stombergas of Zalgiris Kaunas U17 team. Stombergas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Zalgiris to edge slightly higher-ranked Tartu (#2, 16-1) by 2 points 90-88. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Zalgiris consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 15 matches. Stombergas is a newcomer at Zalgiris and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Jakon Leifsson of Icelandic All-Stars Reykjavik U16 team (#11). Leifsson showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Ice All-Stars, leading his team to a 91-49 easy win against the higher-ranked Sokut (#1, 17-5). Ice All-Stars needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 7 lost games. Leifsson has a great season in EYBL U16. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.9apg (2nd best).
