There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in EYBL U16. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Finnish BC Nokia at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Latvian Jugla 84-54. The game without a history. Jugla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 24 BC Nokia turnovers. Kristofers Fibigs orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals. Roberts Deics contributed with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Teemu Talvitie replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds for BC Nokia. BC Nokia's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Jugla beat Falcon on the road 92-75. Ogre won against Lahti on its own court 90-80. EB-85 lost to undefeated Jugla in Riga 53-100. BC Nokia rolled over Ogre at home 88-45. Falcon crushed Ogre on the opponent's court 86-63. EB-85 was beaten by BC Nokia in a home game 66-73. VKM destroyed Kutaisi on the road 95-57. Falcon unfortunately lost to Lahti on its own court 90-98. Winless Liepaja lost to undefeated SKM in Vilnius 53-72. TalTech lost to undefeated Tornado at home 74-97. Winless Cesis lost to undefeated Jugla on the opponent's court 62-115. Lahti lost to Fryshuset in a home game 61-78. DSN managed to outperform Alvik on the road 70-68. DSN lost to undefeated SKM on its own court 46-60. TalTech crushed Liepaja in Tallinn 78-54. Tornado smashed Kutaisi at home 112-60. BC Nokia destroyed Cesis on the opponent's court 76-47. Tornado managed to outperform Alvik in a home game 116-104. Winless Cesis recorded a loss to Fryshuset on the road 73-58. VKM defeated Alvik on its own court 92-84. Tornado beat DSN in Kaunas 81-63. EB-85 won against Falcon at home 66-59. SKM outscored Slask on the opponent's court 75-54. Winless Kutaisi was rolled over Slask in a home game 44-95. TalTech lost to undefeated SKM on the road 89-99. Slask beat Liepaja on its own court 70-63. Fryshuset lost to EB-85 in Bekestua 62-66. Fryshuset managed to outperform Ogre at home 61-55. Winless Kutaisi was rolled over DSN on the opponent's court 74-50. Lahti crushed Cesis in a home game 102-50. Winless Liepaja was beaten by Alvik on the road 68-57.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 17 points and 7 rebounds by Adolf Puistovirta of Fryshuset.




Falcon - Jugla 75-92

No shocking result in a game when Latvian Jugla beat Danish Falcon in Copenhagen 92-75 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-75. Jugla forced 31 Falcon turnovers. Kristofers Fibigs notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and Roberts Deics supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Jugla players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds by August Engelhardt did not help to save the game for Falcon. Rumle Freil added 9 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Falcon's coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win.

Ogre - Lahti 90-80

Very expected game when Finnish Lahti lost on the road to Latvian Ogre 90-80 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ogre. Lahti managed to win fourth quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lahti 52-37 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Martins Kudrjavcevs notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Tanels Lapsins supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Ogre's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 31 points and 7 rebounds by Renne Ikalainen did not help to save the game for Lahti. Guard Eemi Mustapaa (187-2009) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the guests.

Very predictable result when Latvian Jugla rolled over Norwegian EB-85 in Riga 100-53 on Saturday. The game without a history. Jugla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to EB-85's 42. Jugla forced 36 EB-85 turnovers and outrebounded them 57-42 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Roberts Deics notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and Leonards Papans supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by Carl Veiby did not help to save the game for EB-85. Linus Overlien added 7 points for the guests. EB-85's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

There was a minor upset when Latvian Ogre was outscored on the road by Finnish BC Nokia 88-45 on Friday. The game without a history. BC Nokia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ogre to just 7 points in third quarter. BC Nokia dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ogre's 26. BC Nokia forced 25 Ogre turnovers and outrebounded them 59-27 including a 28-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Miska Haliseva notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Tuukka Selin supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Ogre - Falcon 63-86

There was a surprise result when Danish Falcon outplayed on the road Latvian Ogre 86-63 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Falcon's pressure prevailed and they won that period 30-12 extending their advantage to 23 points. Falcon dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ogre's 34. Falcon forced 23 Ogre turnovers and outrebounded them 56-29 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. August Engelhardt notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Rumle Freil supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 22 points by Tanels Lapsins did not help to save the game for Ogre. Valters Skujins added 10 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

EB-85 - BC Nokia 66-73

But EB-85 was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Nokia 73-66 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 28-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. BC Nokia dominated on the defensive end, holding EB-85 to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 30 EB-85 turnovers. Strangely EB-85 outrebounded BC Nokia 53-36 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jonni Halme notched 26 points to lead the effort and Miska Haliseva supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. VKM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kutaisi to just 7 points in fourth quarter. VKM forced 22 Kutaisi turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. VKM looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Kutaisi's players. Danielius Miselis notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Rytis Mazonas supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four VKM players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 7 steals by Luka Makharashvili did not help to save the game for Kutaisi. Aleksandre Oboladze added 10 points for the hosts. Kutaisi's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.

Martynas Suzanovicius notched 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Nojus Satas supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Even 13 points by Valters Vitins did not help to save the game for Liepaja. Emils Steckis added 13 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. But Alvik was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Riga 70-68 on Saturday night. Alvik trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 21-7 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 68-70 at the end of the game. DSN dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Alvik's 24. Nils Silins notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Roberts Timenieks supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds.
