Jekabs Niedra's triple-double lands him Player of the Week award

18-year old guard Jekabs Niedra (184-G-2006) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team Marupes SC Riga and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
He recorded a triple-double of 13 points adding also 12 rebounds and 13 assists, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team London Drive (#1, 0-4) with 74-point margin 109-35. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Marupes to consolidate first place in the EYBL U20. Marupes have a solid 7-1 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Niedra as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Niedra has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (4th best: 5.1apg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 77.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Toms Ailis (197-F-2006). He is a forward in his first season at Marupes. In the last game Ailis recorded an impressive 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course together with Niedra he helped Marupes SC Riga with another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked London Drive (#1, 0-4) 109-35. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Marupes consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 7 matches. Ailis is a newcomer at Marupes and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Gotfrids Hofmanis (193-F-2005) of RBS Rigas Juniori (#11). Hofmanis scored 28 points. He was a key player of Rigas Juniori, leading his team to a 91-55 easy win against the lower-ranked BVBS (#22, 2-2). Hofmanis has a very solid season. In 4 games in EYBL U20 he scored 16.0ppg.
