Ritenieks' double-double lands him Player of the Week award

16-year old Marks Ritenieks (2009) had a great game in the last round for Ekselences centrs Riga and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Essex One2One (#22, 0-4) with 44-point margin 89-45. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Ekselences moved-up to the 83th position in EYBL U17. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ekselences will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. In the team's last game Ritenieks had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Ekselences and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Marks Ritenieks averages this season 14.7ppg and 10.2rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Ronijs Jeromanovs (189-G-2009). He is a guard in his first season at Marupes. In the last game Jeromanovs recorded an impressive double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds. Of course together with Ritenieks he helped Marupes SC Riga with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked HNMKY (#86, 3-5) 78-52. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Marupes dropped in the standings to 83th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 5-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Jeromanovs is a newcomer at Marupes and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 9.1rpg and 4.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Leonards Papans (183-G-2009) of RBS Rigas Juniori (#81). Papans scored 29 points and passed 5 assists. He was a key player of Rigas Juniori, leading his team to a 81-80 win against slightly lower-ranked Marupes (#83, 5-3). Rigas Juniori have amazing season winning all 8 games without a single defeat. Papans turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Papans has a very solid season. In 8 games in EYBL U17 he scored 20.5ppg. He also has 4.3apg, 4.1spg, a FGP of 61.4% and 3PT: 56.3%.
