Elijus Zilevicius claims EYBL U17 Hoops Agents weekly honour

Elijus Zilevicius had an amazing evening in the last round for Taurage U16 team and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 11.
The had a double-double of 25 points and 17 rebounds, while his team outclassed A.Kraukla/VEF (#50, 2-6) with 30-point margin 107-77. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Taurage is placed at 11th position in EYBL U17. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Taurage will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. Zilevicius has many years of experience at Taurage, through which he has constantly improved. Zilevicius has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 13.4rpg) and averages solid 58.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Arvids Aizups of A.Kraukla/VEF Riga U17 team. Aizups impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as A.Kraukla/VEF lost that game 77-85 to the higher-ranked Sigulda (#10, 5-3). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But A.Kraukla/VEF managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 50th place. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories A.Kraukla/VEF managed to get this year. Aizups is well-known by A.Kraukla/VEF fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another A.Kraukla/VEF's star - Edvards Smits. Smits scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He was another key player of A.Kraukla/VEF Riga U17 team, helping his team with a 90-87 win against the higher-ranked EB-85 (#19, 4-4). A.Kraukla/VEF can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Smits has a very solid season. In 8 games in EYBL U17 he scored 11.9ppg. He also has 6.1rpg and a FGP of 57.9%.
