Skyers earns MVP as Rens United cruise past Myerscough College to claim EYBL U20 SuperFinal crown

Rens United capped a dominant run through the 2025-26 European Youth Basketball League season by beating England's Myerscough College 89-67 in the U20 SuperFinal championship game on Sunday at Palestra Piero Viola.
The American squad, coached by Jamaal Womack — a former player with ties to Reggio Calabria basketball — imposed their athleticism and defensive intensity from the opening minutes and never allowed the English side to gain a foothold. Captain Jordan Skyers) was the driving force, pouring in 27 points in the final to earn the overall tournament MVP award. Rens United had already won the October stage of the EYBL season and confirmed their status as the class of the competition with a wire-to-wire performance in the four-day SuperFinal.
Twelve teams from seven nations — spanning the United States, England, Estonia, Georgia, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Slovakia, and Sweden — descended on Reggio Calabria from April 9-12 for the season-ending event, playing across the PalaCalafiore and the refurbished Pianeta Viola (Palestra Piero Viola). Host club VIS Reggio Calabria rounded out the field.
Rens United were tested only once, in their opening game against Estonia's TSA/Reinar Halliku, who led for three quarters before the Americans' physicality and transition game took over in the fourth. From there, Womack's group dispatched IBA 81-71 and beat Latvia's BVBS 91-82 in the semifinals before running away from Myerscough in the final.
In the bronze-medal game, Slovakia's Levice edged Latvia's BVBS 87-86 in a thriller decided in the final seconds, encapsulating the spirit of a tournament that featured tight finishes and high-level play throughout.
The event was hailed as a major organizational success, with around 300 athletes, staff, and families visiting Reggio Calabria. VIS president Luigi Di Bernardo confirmed that the city will serve as a permanent EYBL base for the 2026-27 season.
