Adler's 32-point eruption blows Kataja away as Vilpas claim Korisliiga crown in decisive Game 7-May 19, 2026
Salon Vilpas are the 2025-26 Finnish champions, demolishing Kataja Basket 100-69 in a one-sided Game 7 at a rocking Salohalli before 2,922 fans to win the Korisliiga Finals 4-3 and lift the most coveted trophy in Finnish basketball.
After six games of tension, drama, and see-sawing momentum, the decider was no contest. Vilpas blew the game open with a devastating 23-9 third quarter that turned a competitive 51-46 halftime contest into an untouchable 74-55 lead, then poured in 26 fourth-quarter points to reach the century mark and seal a 31-point blowout in a winner-take-all showdown.
Samu Adler (198-G-2007) was the undisputed star, torching Kataja for 32 points on 10-of-19 shooting including 5-of-13 from three with eight rebounds, five assists, and seven trips to the free-throw line (7-of-10) in 33 minutes. His 38 efficiency was the highest of any player in the entire finals and his third-quarter takeover where he buried multiple triples to stretch the lead beyond recovery will be remembered as the defining sequence of the championship.
Ze'Rik Onyema (206-F-2002, college: Texas) was equally dominant inside with 18 points on a ruthless 9-of-13 from two-point range, 10 rebounds (five offensive), and three steals. Jalen Brooks (196-F-1999, college: LSUS, agency: Players Group) added 12 points and nine rebounds, Jack Forrest (196-G-2000, college: Bucknell, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed 12 off the bench, and Teemu Suokas (188-G-2001, college: Ball St.) had nine efficient points (3-of-4 FG). Luukas Vaara (207-C-2001) was perfect from the line (4-of-4) for four points and seven rebounds in a valuable bench role.
Vilpas' 69 percent shooting from two-point range (25-of-36) was the statistic that killed the series. They attacked the paint relentlessly for 46 points inside, grabbed 18 offensive rebounds for 23 second-chance points, and generated 16 fast-break points from seven steals. The hosts' 49-23 rebounding advantage was the most lopsided of the entire finals.
For Kataja, De'Vion Harmon (188-G-2001, college: Texas Tech) was brilliant in defeat with 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line, but he was a one-man band. Thomas Tumba (196-F-2001) added 11 on 4-of-5 shooting, Henri Kantonen (198-SG-1997, agency: Blacktop Management) had 11 but shot just 4-of-17 (3-of-14 from three), and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (199-F-1991, college: Temple) was limited to three points. The Joensuu side were outrebounded 23-49 a staggering 26-board deficit that ensured they never got second looks while Vilpas feasted on offensive boards.
Kataja had pushed the series to the limit after splitting the first six games 3-3, but the decider on Vilpas' home floor was a mismatch from the third quarter onward. The Salo faithful who had watched their team survive three elimination threats across the playoffs were finally rewarded with a championship performance worthy of the occasion.
