Rams tab Rene Rougeau, ex Seagulls

Canterbury Rams (NBL) signed 40-year-old American 198cm center Rene Rougeau (UNLV) from Seagulls in Finnish Korisliiga. He has played there for the last four years and was voted League Player of the Week twice.
He is a very experienced player. Rougeau has traveled extensively during his pro career, playing in six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America, and North America). He has played professionally in France (Nantes), Israel (Maccabi Haifa), Mexico (Toros and Caballeros de Culiacan), Venezuela (Bucaneros), and IBL (Venice Beach W.).
Among many awards, his team won the Finnish Cup in 2024. Rougeau received the Eurobasket.com All-Finnish League Player of the Year award and the Eurobasket.com All-Finnish League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025. He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Rams.
He graduated from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas in 2009, and it is his 17th season in pro basketball.
