  French Final Cup - April 23, 2002
PAU - ASVEL: 80-73
This Final has been a very defensive game. Both teams knows very well eachother. ASVEL decided to cut forward of the ball and Pau had a lot of problem to attack this defense. They made only 1 assist on the 1st half-time. ASVEL's attack was quite well balanced (the 9 players scored) but with a sober Diaw-Riffiod (8pts 100%) and a willful Lewis (6rb), Pau stayed level with ASVEL (35-37). For ASVEL parts, the bad news come from the 4th fault of Radulovic. The 3rd QT was very boring, the 3 referees whistle (too ?) many faults (65 on the full game). ASVEL guards forgot their centers and took a lot of difficult 3pts (4/22). Fortunately for the 9000 fans, Pau recalled a better collective game and took the lead over ASVEL (10pts max). Without Captain Bonato (injury) and Radulovic (5 faults), ASVEL couldn't stop the leader of the French Championship, Pau win his FIRST French Cup.
MVP: Sellers: 26pts (62%) 9rb.
