Limoges claimed the ProB title. They overcame Boulazac in the championship game in Paris tonight. Christophe Massie (206-C/F-77, agency: Court Side, college: Memphis) stepped up with 14 points and 15 rebounds to pace the winners. Boulazac secured an early lead. They dominated in the high-flying first quarter to post a 26:21 lead after ten minutes. Limoges slowly came back into the game. They erased the deficit and surged ahead for a 42:39 halftime lead. Limoges maintained the advantage throughout the third term. They arrived at the final intermission up by 3 points 64:61. Limoges did not slow down in the final stanza and marched to a confident win at the end. Aldo Curti (180-PG-87) knocked down 13 points, while Sambou Traore (199-PF-79) provided 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Amadi McKenzie (201-PF-86) answered with 17 points for Boulazac. Darryl Monroe (202-C/F-86, agency: Two Points, college: George Mason) finished with 18 points in the loss.
Chalon won the second trophy this season. After victory at 'Semaine des As' in February, Chalon celebrated also in 'Coupe de France'. They outplayed Limoges last night 83-75 and actually defended the French Cup trophy which they won last year. Ilian Evtimov (201-F-83, agency: Interperformances, college: N.Carolina St.) was the leading player in victory with 28 points and 7 rebounds. He was MVP of the Big Final. Blake Schilb (200-F/G-83, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices, college: Loyola, IL) secured a great help with 24 points and 5 assists, while Malcolm Delaney (191-G-89, college: Virginia Tech) added 13 points and 6 rebs. In the loosing squad, Raphael Desroses (199-SF-80) answered with 13 points and 6 boards. Christophe Massie (206-C/F-77, agency: Court Side, college: Memphis) had double-double of 12 points and 11 rebs, and Joseph Gomis (180-G-78) netted 11 pts. Third quarter was the crucial one last night. Chalon was up by 6 at the halftime and totally took control on Limoges after that to create 26-14 in Q3 for 70-52 lead. That was too much for Limoges, who only cut the margin to 8 points for rest of the game. Ends of periods: 28-21, 44-38, 70-52, 83-75. Same teams met a year ago in the French Cup Finals and Chalon was better than Limoges 79-71.
