This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in ELITE 2 and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hyeres-Toulon (2-1) in Caen on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Calvados (3-0) 90-77. Caen forced 22 Hyeres-Toulon turnovers. It was a good game for point guard Antoine Rojewski (195-2000) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. American guard Lee Moore (194-1995, college: UTEP) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Frank Mitchell (203-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds for Hyeres-Toulon. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Calvados is looking forward to face Vichy (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Orleans (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in La Rochelle. Saint Chamond (1-2) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging La Rochelle (1-2) 84-81 in the game for the ninth place. It was a great evening for point guard Timothe Vergiat (188-1998) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 assists. Tavon King helped adding 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was guard Sasha Derradji (192-2006) with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Saint Chamond will play against Evreux (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Rochelle will play against Blois (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Aix-Maurienne (1-2) and Champagne (2-1), which took place in Reims. Aix-Maurienne was outleveled in a road game by Champagne 87-59 on Friday. Champagne will meet Poitiers (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aix-Maurienne will play against Denain-Voltaire (#2) and hope to win that game.
