French NM1 round 6 best performance: Mickael Benhamed

Forward Mickael Benhamed (190-F-1991) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked L'union Lourdes-Tarbes Pyrenees Basket, receiving a Hoops Agents NM1 Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 35-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Laval (#14, 0-5), the league's bottom-ranked team 83-77. Lourdes-Tarbes is placed at 2nd position in French NM1. They are still close to the very top. Tarbes-Lourdes would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Benhamed had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Lourdes-Tarbes' top player in his first season with the team. Mickael Benhamed averages this season 13.0ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Lithuanian Augustinas Venckus (190-SG-1997) of Besancon Avenir Comtois Basket. Venckus had a very good evening with 29 points and 5 assists. It was enough for Besancon to edge Saint Vallier (1-4) 92-86. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Group A. But Besancon managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 11th place. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Besancon managed to get this year. Venckus is well-known at Besancon and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.4ppg (#5). He also recorded 4.0 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Marquise Moore (188-G-1994) of league's top team Vendee Challans Basket. Moore showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the last round. Despite Moore's great performance the Vendee Challans lost 80-81 to the lower-ranked Rennes (#5, 3-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Challans had another "accident". It may be a crucial game. Moore's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Moore has a great season in France. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (best scorer).
