French NM1 round 9 best performance: Alexandre Fanchini

Point guard Alexandre Fanchini (183-PG-1999) had a great game in the last round for Aurore de Vitre, receiving a Hoops Agents NM1 Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, three rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Laval (#13, 1-7) 92-81. Vitre is placed at 8th position in French NM1. Vitre is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-4 record. In the team's last game Fanchini had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Vitre's top player in his first season with the team. Former Colby County Community College star has very solid stats this year. Fanchini is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.7ppg) and averages impressive 2.1spg and 42.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Madagascar Mathias M'Madi (196-G-2005) of BC Orchies. M'Madi had a very good evening with 29 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Orchesien BC was edged by the higher-ranked SCABB (#2, 6-2) 82-80. This loss caused Orchies to drop to 9th position in Group A. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-5 record. M'Madi is well-known at Orchies and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.4ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.3 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Cameroonian guard Fabien Ateba (192-G-1991) of L'union Lourdes-Tarbes Pyrenees Basket (#3). Ateba scored 26 points. Despite Ateba's great performance the Lourdes-Tarbes lost 86-87 to #1 ranked Rennes. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Tarbes-Lourdes needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in the Group B. Their record is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Ateba has a great season in France. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (3rd best).
