Naji's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Akram Naji

18-year old French point guard Akram Naji (193-PG-2007) had a great game in the last round for ES Chalon-Sur-Saone and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds, while his team outclassed Gravelines U21 (#9, 8-12) with 34-point margin 103-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Chalon/Saor maintains the 10th position in French league. Chalon/Saone is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-11 record. In the team's last game Naji had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Chalon/Saor's top player in his first season with the team. Akram Naji averages this season 21.6ppg and 5.9apg.

Second best performed player last round was Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa (194-G-2007) of JL Bourg en Bresse. He is a guard in his first season at Bourg U21. In the last game Ekanga-Ehawa recorded an impressive double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led JL Bourg to another comfortable win 98-84 over the lower-ranked St-Quentin U21 (#16, 3-16) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Bourg to move up to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 13-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Ekanga-Ehawa is a newcomer at Bourg and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.2ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 5.3rpg and 3.1apg.

Third place about best performers goes to another Chalon U21's star - guard Klark-Luca Riethauser (189-G-2008). Riethauser scored 28 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He was another key player of ES Chalon-Sur-Saone, helping his team with a 103-69 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Gravelines U21 (#9, 8-12). The chances of Chalon/Saor not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Riethauser could try to bring Chalon U21's a little bit higher in the standings. Riethauser has individually a great season in France. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.7ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 7.2rpg (8th best).
