NM1 Round 2 (Second Stage): #1 Val de Seine is defeated by Lyon

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in NM1. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of Val de Seine in Le Mee on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Lyon 75-66. Forward Junior Zero (195-1997) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American guard Michael Nwabuzor (188-1996, college: NMHU) chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Lithuanian guard Kevin Cham (185-1998) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Val de Seine's coach Axel Dao rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lyon are looking forward to face Poissy at home in the next round where they are favorite. Val de Seine will play against Charleville and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Fos-sur-Mer. Provence Basket saved a 1-point victory at home edging Lourdes-Tarbes 74-73 on Friday evening. Power forward Mounir Bernaoui (205-1997) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Dominick Bridgewater supported him with 18 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Provence Basket's coach Emmanuel Schmitt allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by forward Alexis Yetna (203-1997, college: Fairfield) did not help to save the game for Tarbes-Lourdes. Provence Basket will play against Les Sables in Les Sables-D'Ollone in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lourdes-Tarbes will play at home against Berck and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a home loss of Etoile Angers against Besancon on Friday night. Host Etoile Angers was edged by Besancon in a tough game in Angers 86-88. The best player for the winners was Augustinas Venckus who scored 26 points and 8 assists. Besancon's coach Laurent Kleefstra used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Tidiane Badiane produced 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Besancon will meet at home Pole France in the next round where they are favorite. Metz was crushed by Vitre on the road 97-69. Poissy was beaten by Saint Vallier on its own court 84-98. SCABB won against Pole France in Andrezieux 79-74. Metz outscored Pole France at home 86-65.
