Ekanga-Ehawa's 29 points and 7 assists give him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Akram Naji

18-year old guard Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa (194-G-2007) put on an amazing game in the last round for JL Bourg en Bresse and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 22.
He had the game-high 29 points adding seven rebounds and seven assists for Bourg U21 in his team's victory, helping them to beat Paris U21 (#6, 14-7) 90-85. JL Bourg is placed at 5th position in French league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bourg will need more victories to improve their 15-7 record. In the team's last game Ekanga-Ehawa had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be JL Bourg's top player in his first season with the team. Ekanga-Ehawa has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.5ppg) and averages solid 2.1spg and 68.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Maidy Douglas (191-G-2006) of Nanterre 92. He is a guard in his first season at Nanterre U21. In the last game Douglas recorded an impressive 20 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he led JSF Nanterre to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Le Portel U21 (#15, 5-17) 89-59. Nanterre's 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 12-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Douglas is a newcomer at Nanterre and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.9ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.3 assists per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Akram Naji (193-PG-2007) of ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (#9). Naji showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Chalon/Saor, leading his team to a 94-70 easy win against the lower-ranked St-Quentin U21 (#16, 3-19). The chances of Chalon/Saone ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Naji could help Chalon U21 to bring them higher in the standings. Naji has a great season in France. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.8ppg (4th best) and assists with 6.5apg (best passer). He also has 3.2spg and a FGP of 59.6%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
