A2: Peristeri is the Champion while Ilysiakos is officially in A1 - May 26, 2009
Week 30 - Final Outcome
MENT Vassilakis, Keravnos Aigio Helesi and Panerythraikos AS to relegate in the Second Division while DASH Peristeri Athens and Ilysiakos Athens promoted in the A1.
After the last weeks results, DASH Peristeri Athens is the official champion of the A2 and together with Ilysiakos Athens will play in the A1 the season 2009-1010. DASH Peristeri Athens is a historic team with many years in A1, during 90s the team participated in what used to call Korac Cup for seven seasons, and while in 2001 the team participated in the Euroleague while in 2003 in the Champions Cup and in 2004 in the FEL Cup. During the season 2004-2005 DASH Peristeri Athens faced many financial problems which driven the team in the A2 division. The team then had a couple of bad seasons and relegated in the second division where it remained for just two seasons, in the period 2006-2007 the team won the title in the second division and two seasons later the team is officially in the great salons of A1. This season with leading figure being the American Darrel Lewis (13.76ppg, 3.46rpg, 1.46apg and 1.86spg) in less than 27 minutes in the court, followed by the experienced center Dimitris Despos (10ppg and 6rpg), Filippos Moscovitis (9ppg, 2rpg, 2.6apg and 1spg) and the second American of the team Ralph Bucci (8.8ppg, 5.6rpg, 1aps and 1.1spg) created an amazing quartet where helped DASH Peristeri Athens to dominate against most of the teams and with a record of 24-6 won the champion and a position in the A1.
Ilysiakos Athens on the other hand, played in A1 for two seasons, the season 1988-1989 and the season 2003-2004. Ilysiakos Athens finished in the second position this season with the same record as DASH Peristeri Athens. During the last game, Ilysiakos Athens beat MENT Vassilakis and equalize the record of DASH Peristeri Athens with 24-6. Ilysiakos Athens had as main and leading figures the top in assists in A2, Athanasios Karidas(14.6ppg, 3.83rpg, 6.1apg, 1.7spg), the talented center Nikolaos Papanikolaou (10.5ppg and 5.8rpg), the international (U18) and probable target of many teams for the coming season, Greek center, Georgios Bogris (9.4ppg, 4.5rpg and 21 minutes in the court) and the two Bosman players the Irish Conor Grace (8.75ppg and 5.4rpg) and the Slovenian Grega Mali (9.1ppg,3.5rpg and 1apg) created a team which succeeded (quite easy at the end) to overpass the difficulties and the pressure from teams such as Dafni and Iraklis.
