Maccabi won the title ...as usually

There can be many surprises in Israeli Premier League, but Maccabi wins the title every year anyway. So that was not a rurprise when they beat Hapoel Jerusalem in the final game 80-78. And here is a surprise - just two (!!!) points difference. So that was not as obvious as it looked like after all.
Hapoel lost last season the final game to Maccabi by 30 points. Not a lot of fans believed they could challenge the best Israeli team for last few generations, but ...

Jerusalem Shines in State Cup Final Beating Bnei Hasharon 103-85

Hapoel Jerusalem blew out Bnei Hasharon in the State Cup Final 103-85 and lifted the trophy high in the air as the Reds fans sang and danced all night long.
mario Austin was the star for Hapoel putting down 27 points as guard Dror Hagag added 18 and Terence Morris had 15 points and 9 rebounds in the big win. Lee Nailon scored 19 and Moshe Mizrahi had 16 points for Bnei Hasharon. It seemded after an emotional win 2 days earlier versus Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bnei Hasharon had very little in the tank as Jerusalem outscored, outclassed and outhustled a drained team.Mario Austin  (206-F/C-82, college: Mississippi St.)

Maccabi lost in the Israeli-Cup semi-finals!
After almost a decade of winning the Israeli-Cup, Maccabi Tel-Aviv won't join anothet trophy to their collection, after losing yesterday in the semi-finals to Bney-Hasharon, 94-87.
Bney-Hasharon played very well, ant took the lead right from the start. Lee Nailon (204-F-75, college: TCU), who declared befor the game that his team is goingto win, kept his word, while producing a terrific game, which he finished with 31 points. Cookie Beltzer helped him with 20, as Bney-Hasharon was able to pull the biggest upset in Israeli-basketball in the last few years.
Maccabi, on the other hand, was in a horrible shooting day, with only 7-25 from the three point range. there was a sign of a comeback in the last quarter, but the hole was too deep, and Bney-Hasharon got their well-deserved win.
Bney-Hasharon will try to complete their history-making week with a win in the Cup final on thursday, against Hapoel Jerusalem, who ease past Ramat-Gan in the second Semi-final, 117-78. Erez Markovic scored 25 points for Jerusalem, who gave their best game in the season.
