Hugo Besson

Itelyum Varese (Serie A) signed 22-year-old French 191cm guard Hugo Besson. He began the season with KK FMP Meridian Beograd in the Serbian KLS league, averaging 13.9ppg, 3.4rpg, and 2.2apg in 15 games. Last season, he played for various teams, finishing with Metropolitans (Betclic ELITE ProA) in France.
Two years ago, he was drafted by the Indiana Pacers (NBA) in the second round (58th overall).
He was a member of the French U20 National Team in 2021.
He is a very experienced player, having played professionally in Australia (New Zealand Breakers), Serbia, NBA (Milwaukee Bucks), France (Saint Quentin, Chalon/Saor, Antibes, and Chalon/Saone), and NBA Summer League (Milwaukee Bucks). Thanks to pro basketball, he has experienced life in five different countries on three different continents, and is familiar with European, Australian, and North American leagues.
He received the Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Best Young Player of the Year award and the Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Domestic Player of the Year award in 2021.
